How to stay aligned when it feels like your world is falling apart

Sometimes life can be overwhelming. Irrespective of what’s happening for each of us personally, I think we all can acknowledge that this is a fraught time in the world. Collectively, we can all sense the feelings of hopelessness and despair that so many people on earth are currently experiencing, and when we take that in, it can be hard maintain a high vibration.


I’ve developed five practices that I follow to help me to raise my vibration when feelings of fear or despair begin to creep in. They’re simple practices and principles that you might like to adopt to help you stay peaceful in trying times.



PRACTICE #1:

TURN OFF THE NEWS

I never watch the news and haven’t for thirty years. It’s mostly sensationalised often fabricated, and all it does is stoke fear and anxiety. Anything important that’s happening in the world I can find out about by talking to trusted sources or seeking information, but I have come to realise that if it’s not in my line of sight then it’s probably not important for me to know about. Trust me, life gets better when you turn off the news.



PRACTICE #2:

FOCUS YOUR MIND

I have a daily morning ritual of spending some quiet time with myself just focussing my mind and checking in with my body. When we get still and just listen, it’s amazing how much information we have access to when we look within, and the peace and clarity that can be found when we take the time to centre ourselves.

PRACTICE #3:

SPARK YOUR INSPIRATION

If I’m tuned into negative news all the time, then I’m really just going to be sparking fear and anxiety in myself all the time. This is really unhelpful, so I prefer to intentionally spark inspiration. One of the best ways I have found to do this is by reading books written by inspirational people (and if you don’t like to read, you can always listen to the audiobook!)

PRACTICE #4:

DECIDE WHAT YOU WANT

When you’re caught in a negativity spiral, it’s likely you’ve become acutely aware of what you do not want, and often that awareness and our focus on what we don’t want draws more of that to us, and then we spiral even further. A better practice is to focus on what you DO want, and to do that, you need for first decide what it is that you want, and then hold that as your focus.

PRACTICE #5:

HOLD THE VIBRATION OF WHAT YOU WANT

Once you have decided what you want, you have to hold the vibration of your desire so it can manifest in your life. If you are holding the vibration of fear, you’ll get more fear. If you’re holding the vibration of despair, you’ll get more despair.


If you struggle to hold a high vibration, you might find vibrational medicine of benefit to you. I’ve been using vibrational medicines for years, with incredible results. In times of stress and challenge it's important to have a practice that you can lean into that brings you back into balance. Making time to check in and step out of the inertia is crucial and it aids to reset us so we can step back and contemplate what is the next step and where do I want to go..
